The Communications, Parliamentary and Events (CPE) Section is a dynamic and high-performing team with a high work volume, servicing internal and external stakeholders.
The CPE section strives to articulate and support NHMRC's vision and activities, inform, educate and engage internal and external stakeholders, and manage relationships with the Minister's office, NHMRC Council and its committees. The section also directly supports the Executive Leadership team, especially the CEO and General Manager.
Its activities include :
Strategic and business planning, annual reporting and workplace culture and internal communicationA multi-channel approach to external communications including website content, digital publications, social media, media engagement, and eventsParliamentary services and coordination, including for Parliamentary and Estimates committeesSecretariat support for NHMRC Council and its committeesCEO support unit, including Executive Officer and Executive Assistant (EA) support to the CEO and EA support to the GM and Executive Board SecretariatResearch Strategy and EngagementThe Research Strategy and Engagement section shapes the agency's strategic and health priorities and drives activities that align with the Research Translation and International Engagement strategies. It engages nationally and globally to foster relationships with research funders, policymakers, consumers, and the community to support the strategic direction of the agency. At its core, the Research Strategy and Engagement section produces high-level evidence to inform critical decision-making and leadership in health and medical research. To achieve this, the Research Strategy and Engagement consults internally with NHMRC's Principal and advisory committees and works closely with the Department of Health and Aged Care, other government agencies, and key stakeholders.
Position Description - Assistant Director, Corporate StrategyNHMRC is seeking an experienced and high performing individual with relevant experience and passion to lead and mentor a small team to oversee NHMRC's corporate strategy, secretariat and parliamentary functions. This role also plays a key strategic role in supporting the CPE section and Executive team.
Job Specific DutiesDeliver the corporate strategy for the agency, including supporting the Senior Executive with agency-wide prioritisation and planning and workplace culture activitiesCross-agency liaison, coordination and support for business planning, and delivery of the annual Corporate Plan and Annual ReportLead, mentor and support team delivery of the Council and Committees secretariat and parliamentary functionProvide Parliamentary support and advice to all levels of the organisation and coordinate input across the agencyWork on other assigned projects and as part of a team on shared projects to deliver and achieve tasks and projects to a high standardPosition Description - Assistant Director, Research StrategyNHMRC is seeking an Assistant Director to contribute to national policy development to shape the future of health and medical research funding in Australia. The Assistant Director will work independently to progress a range of business activities to inform changes to policy in consultation with relevant entities across the Australian Government and as well as the health and medical research sector, consumers and the community. The Assistant Director will also oversee NHMRC's delivery of the Medical Research Future Fund on behalf of the Department of Health and Aged Care.
