Our client is a well-known nationally for their high quality products in the mining and construction industry. With offices across NSW and Qld, they specialise in custom design and fabrication of products along with equipment hire. Due to growth, we're currently seeking a CNC Machinist to join their team.
The CNC Machine Operator is a hands-on technical role responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of CNC equipment to produce high-quality precision components. Working under the guidance of the Machine Shop Supervisor and Leading Hand, the CNC Operator ensures that jobs are set up, machined, and inspected in line with work instructions, engineering drawings, and quality standards. This role contributes to the team's delivery of on-time production in a dynamic, custom-manufacturing environment.
The role : Actively Operate CNC lathes, mills, or other machines as required to manufacture components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Conduct machine setups including fixture installation, tool selection, and programming as required. Perform accurate first-off and in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment (e.g. callipers, micrometres and gauges). Monitor machine operations, tool condition, and part conformity throughout production runs. Identify and report any machining anomalies, tool wear, or part deviations to the Leading Hand or Supervisor. Read and interpret technical drawings, job packets, and work instructions to complete machining tasks to required tolerances. Follow all Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) and actively contribute to prestart and toolbox talks. Maintain a clean and orderly workstation, including chip removal, coolant top-up, and basic machine housekeeping. Accurately complete production records, time sheets, and job tracking documentation. Basic maintenance of machines i.e. fixing leaks, replacing seals and diagnosing issues etc. What we're looking for : Trade qualification in Certificate 3 Engineering Mechanical Trade Minimum 2 years' experience operating Mazak or Okuma CNC's in a manufacturing environment. Forklift licence Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and using measuring instruments. Solid understanding of machining principles, speeds / feeds, and material properties. Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and good problem-solving skills. Willingness to work as part of a team and adapt to changing production demands. Benefits :
