Disability Support Workers - Croydon

We are seeking a Disability Support Worker in Croydon for a young customer, soon to turn 18 years of age, participating in school and the community.

Initially, the role will require extensive relationship-building skills as our customer can be difficult to engage and is very nervous. This means the hours may be minimal, to begin with, 2 hours some mornings and 2-3 hours some afternoons until the rapport is built. Ongoing there is an opportunity to attend respite and have longer hours.

An understanding of females with ASD is preferable. She loves baking, arts and crafts, animals, the outdoors, and collecting snails and other little creatures.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven or lived experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar role
• Preferably experience working with people with Autism
• Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, a related field, or ability to obtain
• Knowledge and understanding of disability support principles, policies, and practices.
