We work closely with industry partners and the government to ensure our courses remain relevant and responsive and our research findings are put into practice.The Deakin Indigenous Strategy sets goals for Indigenous outcomes under the Deakin University Strategic Plan, Deakin 2030 Ideas to Impact.

It guides the development and delivery of Deakin's guiding plans for Education, Employability, and Research and Innovation and is implemented through enabling and operating plans.The Faculty Compacts set agreed goals and targets with Faculties for agreed outcomes outlined in the DeakinIndigenous Strategy 2023-2028 particularly in the leadership and delivery of research and education in Faculty disciplinary domains.

The Deakin Indigenous Strategy allows for differentiated targets for each Faculty in recognition of historical and emerging trends in Indigenous engagement with different disciplines.

The Faculty Compacts set realistic but aspirational goals to guide Faculty action.As an Associate Dean, Indigenous you will : Ensure Indigenous aspirations and initiatives are embedded into faculty strategic plans and goals to enable continuous improvement within the faculty and university in Indigenous education and research engagement.Lead in the development and execution of the faculty compacts in collaboration with key stakeholders across the university.Regularly report on progress and outcomes to faculty compact goals within the faculty leadership team and as part of university reporting requirements regarding the Deakin Indigenous Strategy.

Undertake annual reporting on faculty goals through VCIAC and University Council.To be successful, you'll have : Qualifications and experience commensurate with appointment at Level D-E, including a PhD or relevant extensive experience.Experience in influencing change within a diverse academic organisation.A demonstrated record of innovation, achievement and quality improvement in teaching to implement sustainable change.A comprehensive understanding of Indigenous communities, cultures and contemporary issues, either within Victoria or more broadly across Australia, particularly issues of education for Indigenous Australians.An understanding of Indigenous matters in industry sectors relevant to the Faculty, including demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with Indigenous leaders and Indigenous-controlled organisations.An understanding of current trends in the higher education sector domestically and internationally, and the ability to interpret issues in the sector.Demonstrated effective leadership with a proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for advancing Indigenous success in education and employment.Special RequirementsThis position may require the incumbent to travel domestically and / or internationally to attend conferences, events and to represent the university.This position requires the incumbent to hold a current Working with Children Check.Eligible applicants are only persons : of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent; andwho identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander.Here's how to apply : Please submit your updated resume, a brief cover letter, and responses to the Key Selection Criteria by clicking the 'Apply' button.For a confidential discussion regarding this role, please contact Professor Jenni Lightowlers, Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Law on
