Assistant Director Financial - Operations

We're looking for a skilled and confident leader to manage financial operations and support a high-performing team across Treasury, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Travel.

In this role, you'll report to the Director of Financial Operations, provide expert financial advice, and oversee day-to-day activities across key finance functions.

Key Responsibilities :

Oversee financial operations across multiple areas

Lead, supervise and support a small finance team

Provide expert advice and technical knowledge in accounting

Interpret and apply financial legislation and policy to resolve moderately complex issues

Build strong relationships and respond to internal and external enquiries

Manage and prioritise team workloads, ensuring quality and timeliness

Use financial systems (e.g. CBMS, TechnologyOne, Excel) to analyse and reconcile data

Maintain and update policies and procedures, and lead process improvements

Prepare and approve end-of-month tasks such as :

Reconciliations

Journals

Executive and management reporting

What we're looking for :

Proven experience in financial operations management

Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent understanding of Australian Government financial legislation and compliance (e.g. PGPA Act)

High attention to detail and strong written / verbal communication

Confident using financial systems and software

Able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and manage change

Proactive with a continuous improvement mindset
