RMIT is seeking a senior academic leader to take on the combined role of Professor and Assistant Associate Dean (Head of Discipline), Psychology within the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences.
This is a fixed-term appointment (3 years) as Assistant Associate Dean (AAD), underpinned by a continuing Professorial position. The successful candidate will lead the Psychology discipline while maintaining their own academic and research activity.
As Professor , you will be an established and respected researcher in Psychology, with a strong track record in research, teaching, and academic leadership. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the strategic direction of the school and the discipline, mentor academic staff, and maintain national and international research partnerships.
As Assistant Associate Dean (Head of Discipline) , you will be a key member of the School's leadership team. The role carries responsibility for overseeing the academic performance and strategic development of the Psychology discipline, including curriculum quality, research leadership, staffing, and resource management. You will lead and support staff to deliver excellence in both learning and teaching and research, and you'll be instrumental in driving transformation and innovation across the discipline.This role will contribute to delivering digitally enabled, student-centred learning and advancing the School's research profile. The AAD will work across the College and with external partners to align the discipline's direction with broader institutional goals.
While the Psychology discipline has emerging research strengths in areas such as women's mental health, cognitive and neurobiology, and the mental health of the healthcare workforce, we strongly encourage applicants with diverse research backgrounds in psychology.

Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across the disciplines of : Biomedical Science, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Physiotherapy and Postgraduate Psychology. Undergraduate Psychology is delivered at RMIT's Melbourne City campus. We also deliver an online Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and are the Academic Organisational Unit responsible for the Bachelor of Psychology at two locations in Vietnam.
The School's research was ranked as well above world standard in clinical science, medical physiology, microbiology, complementary and alternative medicine and pharmacology & pharmaceutical sciences, and above world standard in psychology, public health & health service and medical & health sciences. As a School we have a strategic focus on chronic disease and integrative health care with globally distinctive research strengths in respiratory health, neuroinflammation, translational immunology and infection, cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, and cross-cutting themes of : Lifestyle Medicine, Digital Health, Indigenous Health, Ageing in Health & Disease, and Medical Devices, Diagnostics and Prognostics.
