About The Program

Calvary Bruce private Hospital runs the Calvary OnePlus Graduate Nurse Transition Program (GNTP), a national program that supports the individual in developing principles of clinical practice that promote the transference of knowledge, skills and behaviour for life-long learning. Through support and reflection, the program will empower the individual to make well-informed evidence-based decisions throughout their career. This twelve month practice-based program enables graduates to learn the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes in a supportive environment in a variety of clinical settings throughout the organisation.

• The GNTP is in keeping with Calvary's values of Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect. In practice Calvary recognises the worth of the individual, acknowledges talents and skills by providing support, education and mentoring to foster an atmosphere of 'Being for Others'. The Graduate Nurse Transition Program based on a best practice and clinical support, will provide you with;

Structured critical care transition program with 2 x 6 month rotations over the year through medical, surgical wards, Perioperative and mental health wards at 0.8 FTE (negotiable)A dedicated New Graduate coordinator will support you through the 12 month programMonthly support meetingsRegular clinical supervision and supportOptions to nominate preferred rotation areasOptions for critical care rotationsFlexible rosteringTailored study daysSpecialty specific competency booksDedicated multi day Orientation ProgramAllocated Preceptors for each GraduateSupernumerary shifts at the commencement of each rotationNo on call for the duration of the Graduate YearWork across a range of clinical areas in supportive environments recognised as centres of excellenceCareer progression across a wide variety of specialities within our hospitalsAccess to leading training, mentoring and development pathwaysA welcoming, inclusive and values-driven workplace

What You Bring

Mandatory :

Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Valid work rightsNew graduate nurse who has not previously participated in a graduate nurse transition program and has not been employed for more than 3 months as a nurse in Australia or overseas.

Desirable :

Demonstrated effective communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.Demonstrated ability to utilise the Nursing Process in the provision of safe, evidence based nursing care to patients in an acute care environment.Participation in ongoing professional development of self and others.

If not available, please provide two most recent clinical placement experience assessments.At least two referees with a minimum of one clinical referee.
