Purpose
- Individual Accountabilities
- Conducting primary and secondary research on market trends, emerging technology and design trends, forming key insights to inform our product design.
- Design, host, and facilitate ideation workshops with product designers, engineers and strategists around new products and features.
- Use unearthed insights to develop personas, user journey maps, user flows and task flows that articulate the user experience in a clear and compelling manner.
- Effectively communicate design ideas and insights to team members and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across teams.
- Develop information architecture as a foundational part of the product design, including designing intuitive navigation systems, organizing and labelling products to support usability.
- Create wireframes and interactive prototypes for user testing and iterate on solutions based on user feedback.
- Organise and conduct effective user testing, including defining clear testing objectives, recruiting suitable test participants, and creating and following robust testing protocols.
- Translate user testing findings into actionable design improvements, leading to demonstrable enhancements in the products user experience over time.
- Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to ensure designs are feasible and solve identified user problems.
- Participate in the support and development of Coates' design system and component libraries, ensuring they remain up-to-date, relevant and user focused.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep our products and experiences cutting edge.
- Embed a culture of customer experience and design within the broader organization.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communication, product, industrial), HCI, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 2-3 years experience in a UX / UI / Product design role.
- Proficient in design software such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch.
- Experience in facilitating workshops and user testing.
- Experience employing iterative approaches to design and testing such as Agile, Double Diamond etc.
- Knowledge of modern web technologies and responsive design.
- Experience developing and deploying design systems.
- A strong portfolio of work that demonstrates your design thinking capabilities, showcasing how you delivered projects end to end, working on both sides of the double diamond.

- Successful implementation of the design language across products to provide a cohesive user experience.
- Successful creation of accurate, representative personas, user hourney maps, user flows and task flows that reflect real user behaviours, needs and goals.
