• Job Summary

The Assistant Commissioner of Modernisation Delivery Branch (MDB) is responsible for the successful delivery of the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program). The MDB works closely with vendor delivery partners and provides architectural oversight, organisational change management, procurement and vendor management, and project management and delivery services for the Indigo Program.

You will join a team of a highly motivated and collaborative professionals that work in the Organisational Transformation Group (OTG). The OTG is made up of three branches that are focused on delivering a modernisation agenda that will see the AEC transition away from legacy election and roll management systems onto contemporary, citizen centric and secure solutions.

You will operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment, working closely with the First Assistant Commissioner (FAC) and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) as part of the OTG senior leadership team to ensure the Group's strategic objectives are met.

• About the role

The responsibilities of the Assistant Commissioner will include (but not limited to) the following :

• Provide strategic oversight of Indigo Program deliverables in collaboration with the broader OTG, the Program leadership and the AEC Executive Leadership team.
• Manage the technical and business assurance functions of the Indigo Program, working closely AEC business areas to ensure that products and services meet the needs of the AEC, electors and other key stakeholders.
• Actively manage and coordinate Indigo Program resources in collaboration with the Program leadership team to ensure the relevant risks, issues and dependencies are proactively identified, mitigated, and managed.
• Drive strategic relationships and Indigo Program engagement with vendor delivery partners to promote alignment between AEC requirements and vendor products and services.
• Lead effective program and project management practices within the Indigo Program in alignment with organisational frameworks and drive continuous improvement in delivery performance.
• Provide timely, accurate, high quality strategic advice and guidance to the FAC OTG and the AEC Executive Leadership team in relation MDB functional responsibilities.
• Represent the AEC in meetings with other APS agencies, private sector stakeholders and at Parliamentary Committee hearings.
• Lead, manage and mentor all direct reports, including those who perform specialist or legislated functions and a large contractor-based workforce.
• Participate in, and lead the MDB in, meeting milestones specified in the election ready road map and broader agency direction, as required.
• Identify opportunities to support the achievement of the AEC positive corporate outcomes and key objectives as outlined in the AEC Corporate Plan.
• Ensure MDB compliance with relevant policy and legislative obligations.
• Perform additional duties or assume responsibility for additional functions as directed by the Electoral Commissioner and the Executive Leadership team.
