About the organisation
Under the leadership of an experienced Chairman and Board of Directors, Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) assets.
Through the delivery of PHES assets foundational to the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, Queensland Hydro will play a critical role in helping to meet the Government's renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift to a decarbonised energy system and offering a significant contribution to the Queensland economy.
About the role
Reporting to the EGM Corporate and Commercial, you will lead, manage and coordinate the Project Management Office (PMO) activities, ensuring project governance and controls. This will also see you provide oversight of a team of resources responsible for provision of project delivery support services to the Projects teams. The role is responsible for timely and accurate project reporting to a variety of internal and external stakeholders..
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to set up this 'PMO' from scratch including a framework and processes to support World-class pumped hydro energy storage projects, partnering closely with your EGM and CEO.

You'll ensure a change management process is in place, communicated to stakeholders and maintained, as well as establishing a formal audit and review process for the PMO.
About the person
It's essential that you bring significant experience in leading a PMO, ideally from a heavy industry background. You will possess experience in the management of support services to ensure the delivery of infrastructure projects involving project / programme / portfolio planning, scheduling, cost reporting, commissioning and stakeholder relations. Degree level qualifications with significant industry experience or a lesser qualification with significant infrastructure delivery support experience is also important.
You will have exceptional organisational and time management skills with a strong capacity to work under pressure, multi-task and manage matters within tight deadlines. Some experience in communicating and reporting to Government would be advantageous.
With high integrity, you will have excellent oral and interpersonal communication, influencing and negotiation skills and value stakeholder relationships.
