Horticulture Team Leader

Citywide Canberra are recruiting for a

• Horticulture Team Leader
• This role will see you coordinating and supervising day to day activities and participating in the maintenance of high profile gardens in some of Canberra's most iconic locations.
• About Citywide

Citywide is responsible for maintaining the National Capital Estate (on behalf of the National Capital Authority, Commonwealth Government and public). This includes large areas of public green space and nationally significant assets such as Anzac Parade including the memorials, Commonwealth and Kings Parks, the Parliamentary Zone (including the Old Parliament House Rose Gardens) and areas surrounding Lake Burley Griffin.

• Duties of the role include but are not limited to
• Undertake horticultural tasks including mowing, edging, spraying, hedging, planting, pruning, mulching, blowing of paths etc.
• Accurate daily reporting of schedules.
• Coordinate and supervise day to day activities of the team.
• Escalate any safety, operational or employee issues to the supervisor.
• Undertake and record daily worksite assessments.
• Ensure all fleet is maintained - log book checks, vehicle inspections etc.
• Record keeping including updating and using Citywide systems.
• Other duties within the scope of the role.
• Essential Skills
• Cert 3 in Horticulture or similar
• 3-5 years' experience maintaining high quality landscapes
• Knowledge of and ability to operate a wide range of mowers e.g. zero turn, broad acre mowers and small engine equipment such as brush cutter, edgers and blowers
• Chemical Certificate
• First Aid Licence
• White Card
• Current Drivers Licence
• Medium Rigid Driver Licence (preferred)
• Knowledge and appreciation of OH&S
