A hands-on and strategic Engineering Manager is sought to lead and grow a high-performing software engineering team for a Perth-based product company.

As the business moves into a scale-up phase, this is a key leadership role reporting into the Head of Engineering and sitting within the broader strategy team.

You'll lead a cross-functional team across backend, frontend, and machine learning, driving execution, architecture decisions, and engineering standards, while still being close to the code when needed.

This is a full-time, hybrid position with flexibility – including one in-office day on Wednesdays with team lunch and optional social events.

You Should Have

At least 3 years' experience in Engineering Manager or similar leadership roles

Strong full stack engineering background across Python, TypeScript, React, Docker, and ideally C++

Experience hiring, mentoring, and growing teams of 5+ engineers

Background working in product-focused teams

Confidence in architecture, system design, and technical decision-making

A collaborative approach with a passion for developing people and culture

Nice to Have

Exposure to GPUs, NVIDIA CUDA, GStreamer

Interest in AI / ML or computer vision (experience not essential)

Key Responsibilities

Lead, support, and scale a growing engineering team (currently 6, soon to be 8+)

Work with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver on core initiatives

Own architecture and code quality across systems

Stay hands-on where needed – from design to bug-fixing and reviews

Contribute to shaping engineering culture and future R&D efforts
