Job Summary
As a Psychologist you will provide high-quality, evidence-based psychological services to clients across a range of areas. You will work autonomously within your area of expertise while collaborating with a dynamic team of professionals. You may focus on one of two career progression tracks :
- Clinical Specialist Track : Focuses on deepening expertise in a particular psychological specialty.
- Practice Management Track : Combines clinical practice with the development of skills in business operations and management.
In either track, your role is to ensure client satisfaction and contribute to the overall success of the practice. You will also be responsible for meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) related to client retention, clinical outcomes, and business development. Key Responsibilities
1. Therapeutic Interventions
Provide individual and group psychological therapy using evidence-based interventions.Deliver psychological services in specialised areas (e.g., trauma, child psychology, anxiety, or other fields based on your experience).Tailor interventions to meet client needs, adjusting treatment as necessary.2. Client Management and Treatment Planning
Conduct initial client assessments, formulate treatment plans, and review client progress regularly.Maintain detailed and up-to-date client records, ensuring compliance with APS Code of Ethics and AHPRA regulations.Collaborate with external healthcare providers, agencies, and community resources to support client outcomes.3. Specialisation and Career Development (Clinical Specialist Track)
Develop expertise in a chosen field (e.g., trauma, autism, family therapy) through ongoing professional development, certification, and supervision.Participate in research, case studies, or publications to further contribute to your field of expertise.Lead or participate in marketing initiatives related to your specialty area, building the practice’s profile in your chosen field.4. Practice Management and Business Development (Practice Management Track)
Assist in the management of day-to-day business operations, contributing to the smooth running of the practice.Participate in business development activities such as client retention strategies, marketing, and public relations.Take on leadership responsibilities as a Practice Lead for specific operational tasks (e.g., finance, marketing, or staff supervision).Mentor and support junior staff, providing supervision as you progress in your career. 5. Documentation and ComplianceMaintain electronic client notes and session reports in line with practice and legal requirements.Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, including privacy laws, mandatory reporting, and other legal frameworks relevant to psychology practice in Australia.Complete incident reports and actively participate in risk management processes as needed.6. Professional Development and Supervision
Engage in regular professional development activities, including attending CPD workshops, pursuing additional certifications, and participating in peer and clinical supervision.Contribute to the learning environment by participating in in-house training and offering mentorship to provisional psychologists or less experienced colleagues.
