The opportunity
Join one of Thiess’ flagship projects at Lake Vermont, located just outside Dysart in Central Queensland. We’re on the lookout for a driven Electrical Supervisor to lead our Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) team on a 9-day fortnight roster (5 / 2, 4 / 3) . As one of our longest-standing operations, Lake Vermont offers a stable and rewarding career path.

You'll be responsible for ensuring all electrical work meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance — driving efficiency across our fixed plant operations.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage weekly and annual CHPP maintenance plans
- Supervise the execution of all planned and unplanned electrical work
- Lead shutdowns and coordinate contractor activity to meet timelines and budgets
- Monitor and maintain accurate maintenance records, asset history, and job plans
- Apply predictive and condition-based monitoring techniques to drive proactive maintenance
- Provide ongoing support to the CHPP Superintendent and collaborate with the EEM
- Ensure all work meets safety and environmental standards and complies with legislative requirements
- Engage with internal stakeholders and contractors to foster smooth operations and strong working relationships
- Contribute to budgeting, parts procurement, and cost control
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce downtime and enhance equipment performance
Requirements
Additionally, you will have :
Electrical Trade Certificate or Engineering qualificationSupervisor RII qualificationsHigh Voltage Switching qualification (mandatory)Strong background supervising CHPP / fixed plant maintenanceWorking knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999Proficiency in maintenance systems (e.g. JDE, CITECT)Excellent planning, coordination, and communication skillsEEHA and / or EEM competencies highly regardedBenefits
