About the role
We have a 2 -year fixed term contract opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel – Contracts Lawyer to develop and provide advice on a range of contract types, predominantly for construction and technology contracts. This role is based in Leederville and will report to the Manager - Commercial Support.

What the role will involve
Provides strategic direction and advice on the use and operation of relationship contracts wherever they may be required throughout the businessProvide legal advice and opinions on contractual issues that arise either in the planning, creation, negotiation or delivery of the agreementPrepares all documents necessary for the creation of bids, tenders and contractsResolves commercial and contractual issues arising during the assessment and evaluation processPrepares recommendations for acceptance of quotations and tenders, or works with others to prepare such recommendations as the circumstances may require, and obtains approval of recommendationsDevelops negotiation strategies for contracts and leads the negotiationsAdvise on contractual disputes or claims that arise, including attending negotiations and drafting the required settlement deed.Provide legal advice on regulatory issues, land assembly or other project related issues that may arise in the carrying out of a projectKey skills and experience
Legal Practitioner admitted to practice in Western AustraliaExtensive experience in drafting, development, negotiation and management of contracts for goods, works and services, particularly in engineering and construction works including in developing contracts based on Standards Australia General Conditions of Contract with particular reference to AS 4000 series.Detailed knowledge of contract and commercial law and proficient in contract managementSound working knowledge of the procurement policies and procedures employed by large Corporations and business computer systems used to support the procurement functionDemonstrated knowledge of the statutes and legal principles material to commercial activities of the State and its instrumentalitiesConsiderable experience and demonstrated ability in providing comprehensive legal services and advice to a large commercial organisationApply : If you are interested in the above opportunity, please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.
