Your Benefits We offer a comprehensive range of benefits to support your transition and enhance your experience throughout the program. Flights or reimbursement of travel expenses are provided at the beginning and end of the program. Housing will not be supplied, successful candidates who aren't local will have to find and supply their own housing for the duration of the Vacation program. You will be fully equipped with all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure your safety and comfort on the job. Candidates who successfully complete the vacation program will be fast-tracked into our graduate program.

This is a 12-week residential program running from December to February, on a roster of 5 days on 2 days off and 4 days on 3 days off working a 10 hour day.

Gaining hands-on experience through on-the-job learningTaking ownership of real projects with meaningful impactReceiving mentorship from experienced technical leadersParticipating in operational and personal development trainingAbout the role The Vacation Student – Geotechnical Engineering is a developmental position designed to build technical capabilities within the Integrated Planning team through field-based and analytical assignments. The role provides exposure to geotechnical risk management and slope stability practices. Each task is supervised by a senior geotechnical professional, aligning responsibilities with the student's academic background and development objectives.

Responsibilities include

Assisting with geotechnical data collection and basic analysis to support operational planningParticipating in site inspections and audits to observe and document geotechnical hazardsMaintaining and updating visual risk communication toolsSupporting rock sampling and testing programs under supervisionContributing to back-analyzing rockfalls and slope failures using site dataPreparing reports and presentations on geotechnical observations and findingsEngaging in safety training, toolbox talks, and ground awareness sessions with site teamsAbout you The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering or Geology degree or similar. Ideally you will have some experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements. You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a ability to communicate effectively across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats. You will be able to uphold high work standards, build strong relationships with peers and leaders, and work independently to meet personal and team goals. A valid manual driver's licence and willingness to live and work remotely are essential for this role
