About the area

The School of Social Sciences offers a rich learning and research environment spanning a number of disciplinary and interdisciplinary themes with a focus on the applied social sciences. As well as undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the School supports an active research program.

About the opportunity

• Deliver high-quality teaching and undertake independent research in Anthropology, with expertise relevant to Aboriginal Australia (e.g. Native Title, health, social surrounds), contributing to curriculum development and student supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Develop a strong research profile with national recognition, publish in leading peer-reviewed journals, and actively seek research funding from competitive agencies, industry, and government partners.
• Contribute to the collegial and inclusive culture of the School, engage with industry, community, and educational stakeholders to enhance teaching and research programs, and support the University’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.

About you

• PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses in Anthropology
• An emerging national research profile.
• Demonstrated commitment to embedding UWA’s core values of openness, honesty, tolerance, fairness and responsibility in all aspects of work
