The Lockheed Martin AEGIS Combat System is at the forefront of advanced naval technology and provides the strategic advantage for Defence.
Supporting a rolling-wave of upgrades that enhance the integrated air and missile defence capability, Lockheed Martin Australia's Hobart Class DDG program team is the combat system design agent for the AEGIS upgrade for Australia's three Hobart-class Destroyers. Our team will integrate the next generation weapon systems and new sophisticated capabilities to the heart of the complex command and control system.About the roleBased in Mawson Lakes (SA), theLead Design Drafterwill join the Hobart Class team working on the DDG Combat System upgrades. In this role, you will lead the conduct of the overall Combat Systems (CS) design activities to ensure compliance with the CS physical integration design. Your day to day duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to :Lead the development of equipment layouts for combat systems physical installation, combat system compartments and Topside LayoutLead the development and delivery of the documentation, sketches, drawings, models etc.Work with the Combat System Engineering Managers and Technical Leaders to evolve the physical integration designFoster external relationships with the Platform System Designer and the Commonwealth of Australia for resolution of Combat System arrangement issuesProvide input into the evaluation of the maturity of product data provided by suppliers into the integrated data management systemParticipate in technical reviews of the Combat Systems Physical Integration Design products and deliverablesManage the integrity of the design model and updates with the Configuration Management Team to ensure that changes are managed in accordance with engineering processesLead the transition of design data through to production design dataLead the designer / drafter team in the resolution of ship build problemsMentor junior designers and draftersManage allocation of tasks and designers / drafters resources within the programAbout youTo be successful in securing this position, you will have :Tertiary qualifications in Design Engineering or similar, and / or equivalent relevant experience preferably within the defence industry (Navel Experience is desirable)Significant Experience using 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, preferably with PTC Creo ParametricSubstantial experience in concept and detail design of mechanical structures, and electromechanical assemblies, with experience developing and managing large CAD assembliesExperience with Military Standards relating to equipment installation and cabling requirementsSignificant experience with developing drafting drawings, with knowledge of Australian and international drafting standardsExperience with Product Data Management (PDM) software such as Windchill (desirable)Experience with document revision control and configuration management processes (desirable)Special RequirementsApplicants are required to be Australian Citizens and hold a current or re-instatable NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
