The AIC is located within the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC). Employees of the AIC are also employees of the ACIC. The AIC currently operates under separate legislation and remains a separate entity within the ACIC.
The Library and Information Officer role works as part of the library and information services team to support the mission of the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) by providing research and information resources support, publications support and grants and event support.
Library duties include indexing and abstracting and providing support and advice for cataloguing functions in the team. The Library and Information Officer also undertakes acquisitions, document delivery, circulation, reference support and other library and information support tasks. The role also provides support for data integrity and the AIC's publications, grants and events programs.

Assistance with events including administration, preparation, online moderation (for online events) and set up and teardown (for in-person events). Our ideal candidate Demonstrated knowledge of and / or experience in a range of library tasks, including acquisitions, circulation and client services, abstracting and indexing, catalogue record creation and review and inter-library loans. Understanding of the need to maintain accurate and accessible records with demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated skills in administrative tasks using the Microsoft Office suite and content management systems. Demonstrated willingness to assist with a full range of tasks related to live and online events. Works effectively under pressure with minimal supervision, meets deadlines, prioritises workloads and organises their time effectively and efficiently. Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise with external and internal clients and organisations as well as providing training and feedback to team members. Demonstrated ability to work flexibly as a member of a small team, and willingness to undertake duties consistent with the operations of a small organisation. Essential qualifications Tertiary library qualifications (TAFE or university) or equivalent demonstrated experience. Eligibility
Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
