The Principal Policy Officer leads strategic policy and regulatory reforms critical for Victoria's long-term renewable energy transition and electricity sector decarbonisation. The role involves developing Victorian input to national regulatory reform processes and creating state interventions to promote investment in large-scale renewable generation and zero emissions capacity, such as long-duration storage.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership and problem-solving skills to develop well-considered, fit-for-purpose policies in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include complex policy analysis and stakeholder engagement, particularly as Victoria moves away from coal-fired electricity towards a 95% renewable electricity target.
Qualifications and Experience Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Legal, Economics, or Commercial Management are desirable.Experience in energy policy and regulatory reforms within government or industry is highly desirable.In-depth knowledge of the National Electricity Market and understanding of energy sector regulatory frameworks or commercial mechanisms are desirable.This is an ongoing position based at 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne, with hybrid work arrangements available.
