An exciting new role focussed on the assessment of various clinical presentations across multiple client groups, has just launched at JewishCare. You will be trained to follow a trauma-informed, person-centered assessment process aimed at identifying the risks, needs and urgency of people in our mental-health, aged-care, disability and child & family populations. This is an excellent opportunity to be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist and learn foundational clinical skills that will support the development of your career in psychology, social work or nursing. We are open to this role being part-time or full time.

JewishCare NSW has been the major service provider for vulnerable members of our community and beyond, for over 85 years. With teams specialising in aged care, mental health & wellbeing, disability services and family and child support we take a holistic, person-centred approach, working close with both clients and their families to help them feel cared for, valued and understood.
- Key aspect of the role will include the following.
- Be the first point-of-contact for new referrals to our service, providing a brief assessment of presenting issues and risks, utilising a newly developed Triage Framework.
- Establishing an understanding of clients' needs, through client-centred screening and assessment to determine the most appropriate intervention, service and referral pathways
- Developing and maintaining rapport with clients and strong relationships with referrers, to support optimal continuity of care
- Keeping client records up to date utilising our client management system.
- Providing information and options to clients, empowering them to make informed decisions
- Maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Being an ambassador for change within the organisation, approaching transitions with flexibility and collaboration.
- Reporting to the Program Manager or Senior Manager about incidents or emergencies as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
About you :
- Bachelor or postgraduate training in nursing, social work, or psychology.
Capacity to undertake intake and screening assessments, and to conduct risk assessments
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a capacity to connect with people across a range of client groups.
- Strong organisational skills, specifically related to client information management, referrals, intake, and triage decisions.
- Excellent emotional intelligence (curious, collaborative & self-aware), with a demonstrated capacity to work within complex organisational systems, negotiating a process of change.
- Compassionate approach to clients experiencing physical & mental health challenges and emotional distress.
- A "can-do" attitude and willingness to learn about new client populations within the mental health, aged-cared, disability and child and family space.
- Understanding of person-centred approach to client care.
- Desirable Criteria
Experience delivering treatment or services in mental health, aged-care, NDIS or social welfare
Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and legislation relevant to client presentations
Experience working through organisational change
