Your Role

The Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) Case Worker role is your opportunity to take on an impactful, rewarding career where you will provide high-quality case management and coordination services in the domestic and family violence sector. You’ll work alongside a compassionate, dedicated team of professionals, committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of women and children who have experienced domestic violence.

Your Responsibility

Identify risk factors early and provide support with housing, income, employment, education, and social connections.

Conduct trauma-informed, person-centered intake assessments, safety planning, and DVSAT risk assessments.

Perform home safety audits and coordinate upgrades to ensure secure living environments.

Lead holistic, client-led, culturally sensitive case planning tailored to individual needs.

Empower women and children to safely remain in their homes and break the cycle of violence.

Build strong partnerships with NSW Police, legal services, healthcare providers, and community groups.

Provide timely referrals and ensure access to essential services when clients need them most.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support.

Contribute to early intervention efforts that improve home safety and well-being.

Participate in on-call duties as part of a rotating roster.

Act as a local expert in DFV by attending Safety Action Meetings, offering court support, and working with key stakeholders.

You Will Need

  • Must be able to work Friday (Day Shift)
  • The St Vincent de Paul Society considers being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act
  • Qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Community Welfare or related field, or equivalent experience with a trauma-informed approach

    At least 2 years of case management experience supporting women and children affected by domestic violence

    Strong understanding of domestic violence, child protection, and available support services

    Skilled in providing advice, referrals, and risk assessments with empathy and care

    Excellent time management, decision-making, and ability to work independently

    Collaborative team player with stakeholder engagement experience

    Proficient in safety planning, communication, and computer use

    NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel

    Committed to respectful, culturally sensitive, client-centred practice
