The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) is the national peak body representing retailers, processors, and smallgoods manufacturers across Australia. Members power an essential supply chain — feeding the nation and driving regional jobs and exports.
We're looking for a confident, solutions-focused Workplace Relations Manager (or Senior IR Specialist) to lead our engagement on industrial relations issues — helping members navigate workplace law, enterprise bargaining, migration labour programs, employment compliance, and the evolving world of labour mobility and workforce reform.

Your Impact
In this role, you will :
Provide expert, timely advice to AMIC members on workplace matters — from enterprise agreements and award compliance to employment law and visa obligations.Monitor and interpret policy and legislative changes, assessing implications for the meat industryRepresent AMIC and its members in consultations, working groups, and meetings with the Fair Work Commission, Fair Work Ombudsman, regulators, and government agenciesPrepare strong policy submissions and advocacy briefs that influence reform and defend industry interests.Build meaningful relationships with members to ensure their workplace realities are reflected in AMIC's voiceCollaborate with our CEO, Corporate Affairs Team, and policy leaders to shape AMIC's position as a respected, evidence-based advocate with regards to workforce matters.You will also manage and guide external consultants (including IR legal advisors) and support broader workforce and skills initiatives, including issues around migration and labour mobility.
What You bring :
A solid understanding of Australian workplace law and the industrial relations landscape — including awards, enterprise bargaining, and the Fair Work system.4+ years' experience in HR, IR or employment law advisory roles (in-house or external)Proven capability preparing policy submissions, member guidance notes, and responding to legislative change.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills — confident engaging with government, regulators, legal counsel, and member businesses.High-quality written and verbal communication skills — clear, concise and credible.A relevant qualification in Law, Industrial Relations, HR, or a related discipline.Bonus if you bring familiarity with the agricultural or manufacturing sectors — especially meat processing or food production.
