Disability Support Worker (Newcastle)

We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our

• individual and outreach programs & SIL
• across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

• About You

We are looking for genuine, proactive Disability Support Workers experienced in supporting people in a range of ways dependent upon the needs of each individual. This may include household activities, medical and health needs, attending community events / activities, personal care, meal management, transport, communication, and managing emotions and behaviors.

Successful applicants will :

• demonstrate initiative and be able to set priorities;
• work collaboratively and achieve individual and team goals and targets;
• understand the principles of person centred support;
• build and develop positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and fellow staff members.
• Position Requirements
• Certificate III in Disability or Home and Community Services or equivalent experience;
• Previous experience in, or demonstrated commitment to, actively supporting people with a disability;
• A strong understanding of the issues involved in working with people with a disability (intellectual, physical or multiple) and a commitment to social justice;
• Competence in developing and / or working within the framework of Individual Plans;
• Completion of a pre-employment medical, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, First Aid certificate and valid driver's licence.
