We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Team Leader and Mechanical Fitter (i.e. two separate roles) to oversee the installation and maintenance of production machinery at the Nupal moulded fibre products and packaging facility in Bathurst, NSW.

The facility is Australia's first and only moulded fibre manufacturing facility, converting plant fibre biomass waste (e.g. wheat straw, bamboo, wood, sugarcane) into biodegradable products and packaging to replace single-use plastics.

The facility will begin production in approximately 3 to 6 months, with the two roles responsible for the ongoing installation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment in a proposed 24 / 7 manufacturing environment. This includes pulping tanks, gearboxes, stirrers, pumps, pipes, thermoforming machines that use compressed water, air, vacuum, heating and conveyor and packing systems, blown film extruders, bag packaging machines, gantry cranes and mobile plant.

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIESMaintenance Team LeaderReporting to the Operations Manager, the NuPAL Maintenance Team Leader role will be approximately 50% admin and 50% hands on, involving :

The planning and scheduling of daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance activities and resources using manufacturer preventive maintenance plans and data, MEX or other reactive maintenance software applications, systems and processes.

Responding to machine breakdowns and performance issues in a timely manner.

Allocating preventive and reactive maintenance tasks to maintenance staff, fitters, mechanics, fabricators, contractors, machine operators and floor assistants.

The set-up of maintenance structures and naming conventions in the MEX system to correctly capture and manage maintenance activities.

The planning and ordering of spare parts to minimize production downtime and delays.

The training and supervision of personnel involved in maintenance activities and the capturing of MEX data.

Ensuring maintenance activities are performed safely using the correct tools, procedures and work permits.

Leading maintenance team meetings.

Leading a team of maintenance personnel (staff and contractors) to achieve peak Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in relation to machine Availability, Performance and Product Quality.

Ensuring machinery uptime and machinery efficiency is optimized.

Ensuring maintenance staff and contractors are suitably qualified and trained to perform their required tasks.

Assisting with re-designs and modifications to equipment.

Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and assets.

Ensuring all plant, equipment and factory assets are safe to operate and compliant with Australian Standards and safety work practices and regulations.

Technical support to apprentices, staff and contractors.

Adhering to Lost Time Injury (LTI) systems, procedures, policies and communications.

Other reasonable activities as requested by your supervisor and / or Facility Managers.

Mechanical FitterReporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the NuPAL Mechanical Fitter role will be approximately 5% admin and 95% hands on, involving :

Working with other fitters, mechanics, fabricators, contractors, machine operators, apprentices and floor assistants to complete planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.

Responding to machine breakdowns and performance issues in a timely manner.

The communication and ordering of spare parts to minimize production downtime and delays.

Learning and understanding MEX to correctly capture and manage maintenance activities.

The training and supervision of personnel involved in maintenance activities and the capturing of MEX data.

Ensuring maintenance activities are performed safely using the correct tools, procedures and work permits.

Ensuring machinery uptime and machinery efficiency is optimized.

Assisting Nupal to achieve peak Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in relation to machine Availability, Performance and Product Quality.

RELEVENT EXPERIENCEThe suitable candidates will process :

A minimum 3 years experience in maintaining or installing manufacturing machinery, equipment and systems (or similar).

A minimum 3 years experience configuring and operating MEX (only for the Maintenance Team Leader role).

Experience managing other staff and contractors.

High risk work tickets : Forklift, Confined Spaces, EWP and 1st Aid (desirable).

Experience with automation, hydraulics, electrical, fabrication (desirable).

Australian permanent residency or citizenship.
