Your Opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting young people to create positive change in their lives
Open Doors is looking for an experienced and compassionate Youth Counsellor and Case Manager to join our outreach team. Based in Mirrabooka and working across surrounding suburbs youll provide oneonone support to young people aged 12 to 18 who are experiencing a range of risk factors impacting their wellbeing.
In this role youll offer flexible evidencebased interventions and psychoeducation as part of a case management approach. Youll also work closely with families / carers and collaborate with schools community services and other key stakeholders to support the best outcomes for young people. Facilitating case conferences and building strong trusting relationships will be an essential part of your work.

Your Key Responsibilities
Respond to referrals from internal teams and external support services in a timely and professional manner
Conduct assessments and manage the intake process ensuring all required documentation and data entry is completed accurately
Work collaboratively with young people to develop holistic strengthsbased case plans aligned with their individual goals
Provide traumainformed personcentred support using culturally secure and solutionfocused approaches
Maintain accurate and uptodate case management files in line with Mission Australia protocols
Advocate for young people and provide referrals to relevant services to support their goals and wellbeing
Manage a variety of administrative tasks including reports case notes statistics referral letters and goal planning documentation
Requirements for Success
With a significant background in the child youth & family and homelessness sectors you will be confident in your case management and support and assessment processes. Other requirements include :
A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare Social Science Youth Work or a related field
Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and child / youthsafe practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt your approach to suit diverse audiences
Proven ability to engage and support young people facing complex life challenges persistence flexibility and creativity are key
Strong administrative and reportwriting skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
A current unrestricted drivers licence
Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children / vulnerable people.
