• The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the City Futures department for a Strategic Planner. You will report to the Coordinator of Strategic Planning and play a pivotal role within the strategic planning team, offering assistance and expertise in strategic land use planning, planning scheme interpretation, policy formulation, project management, research, community engagement, and consultation.

• Key Responsibilities
• Provide advice to the public, developers and the clients of Council in relation to the provisions of the Melton Planning Scheme, Council planning policies, strategies and planning procedures.
• Prepare project briefs and where required manage the work undertaken by external consultancies.
• Review and monitor local policy provisions of the Melton Planning Scheme.
• Undertake research and strategic investigations relating to the planning and development across the Council operating area.

• About you
• To be successful in this role you will have the following : _
• Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline with some relevant experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of strategic land use planning principles and land development issues in urban growth areas.
• Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to communicate effectively and politely with customers.
• Familiarity with community consultation practices, stakeholder engagement strategies, and methods for incorporating public feedback into planning processes.
• Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
