CHP works to achieve this purpose through providing leadership in policy development, advocacy, capacity building and working in partnership with people who are or who have been without a home.

About the role :
The Communications Officer is responsible for maintaining and continually improving Council to Homeless Persons communications to members and supporters, influencing public and social media discourse on homelessness as well as maintaining CHP's online presence. The Officer has a lead role in supporting CHP to deliver effective, targeted, accurate and credible communications that
- Strengthen CHP capacity to engage with supporters and influence policy change
- Raise the profile of the need and strategies to end homelessness across CHP's multiple communications platforms and through strategic use of the media
- Promote CHP services and capability building activities, including its learning hub, practice guidelines and resources and consumer programs
- Connect with CHP's members, prospective members and consumers
Selection Criteria
Qualifications_Satisfactory Police CheckCurrent Working with Children CheckTertiary qualification in digital communications, public relations, or a related fieldExperience_Ability to develop communications materials, including written, graphic, audio and visual contentAbility to proactively and sensitively engage with and provide support to people with lived experience who are sharing their stories as 'case studies'Ability to monitor industry communications trends and performance and use that information to continuously improve an agency's communications activities and approachPrevious experience in digital communications, publications, campaigns or other communications rolesDesirable) Previous experience in working in communications roles in the community sectorDesirable) Experience planning and managing campaign activitiesCapabilities_Ability to work independently and flexibly, and show initiative to consult / collaborate with others as needed, to deliver engaging, relevant and impactful communicationsStrong prioritisation and time management skillsDesirable) Knowledge of issues relating to homelessness in AustraliaPolice and Working with Children Checks will be required prior to commencing employment._PBA3
