Financial Services (APRA)Complex and High ValueEnterprise Transformation FocusAs our client embarks on an ambitious, enterprise-wide transformation journey spanning digital platforms, customer experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability, we are seeking a strategic and commercially astute Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to lead the evolution of our procurement function into a true enabler of value, innovation, and competitive advantage.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer and sitting on the senior leadership team, the CPO will :
- Support the organisational-wide transformation of procurement, supplier management, and commercial frameworks to align with the enterprise strategy.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of third-party engagement, from sourcing and negotiation to risk, ESG, contract governance and performance management.
- Partner with executive peers across technology, operations, customer, legal, and sustainability to deliver complex programs of work.
- Shape and implement a category-led, data-driven procurement operating model that is agile, modern and strategically aligned.
- Drive supplier innovation, cost optimisation, and risk mitigation across a diverse and critical supplier base.
- Transition to user-centric procurement pathways and automated purchasing processes to drive business-wide self-service.
- Oversee a team responsible for tactical sourcing and contract management, ensuring alignment with category plans, business needs, and financial targets.
- Take a customer-first approach to engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
About You
You're a commercially confident and enterprise-minded leader who has operated at scale. With strong business acumen, you possess a deep understanding of broader business issues. As an articulate communicator, you demonstrate a track record of success in influencing supplier business decisions.
You bring :
- Executive procurement experience in complex, regulated environments, ideally financial services, telecommunications, or similarly complex sectors.
- A track record of leading transformation across systems, culture, operating model and value creation.
- Deep commercial acumen across major contracts, sourcing, and third-party risk.
- Ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders, suppliers, and partners.
- Passion for embedding ESG, sustainability, and innovation into procurement decisions.
- Proven operational accountability for a portfolio, division or organisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably encompassing business, procurement and supply chain.
