- About The Role
A support worker is responsible for the wellbeing of people living with disabilities or mental health care needs. Their role is to support participants to live more independently and assist them to reach their NDIS goals.
Support workers usually work with a variety of participants with varied needs. Some participants may require 24 / 7 care while others may only require assistance with daily living tasks such as grocery shopping or accessing the community. Our support workers also assist our participants to access our group programs, social outings and many exciting events.
ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of a Support Worker include, but are not limited to :
Assisting participants to perform important daily activities.Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasksPerforming home based tasks such as food preparation, assisting with housework, homework and therapy supportMedication administrationCommunity access support such as facilitating public transport training, attending community activities, going to appointments and events.Encouraging and supporting personal skills through hobbies, interests, games, exercise and community engagementProviding emotional support and friendshipAbout YouExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detailAbility to work in a team environment and autonomouslyExcellent time management skillsAbility to prioritize and self-motivateAbility to take directionSincere interest in the disability sector and mental healthExcellent report writing disciplineAbility to work with culturally diverse communities and individualsRequired Experience, Skill and QualificationsRelevant Qualifications including (desirable) :Certificate III or higher in Health Service Assistance / Individual Support / Aged Care / Community or alternatively current nursing degree students that have completed their aged care placement.Previous employment experience in the aged care or community services industry.NDIS Worker Screening ClearanceNDIS Worker Orientation Module CertificateA current drivers' licenceA roadworthy and registered car with comprehensive car insuranceValid Police Check (renewable every three years)Working with Children's CheckPlease note it is a condition of employment to be fully vaccination against Covid-19 for this role. Proof of vaccination will be requested prior to commencement.
