Diesel Mechanic Heavy Vehicles
Duties and responsibilities :
- Maintain, test and repair diesel motors.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance, which includes oil and filter changes, engine tuning, lubricating mechanical parts, testing the engine, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks, Assembly, and Dismantling (Overhauling) of Major Components like Engines, Hydraulic pumps, transmissions etc.
- Address and resolve breakdown issues by following the diagnostic procedures outlined in the repair manual.
- Test, charge, replace, or jump-start batteries.
- Diagnose and test parts with the assistance of computers and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct a thorough test after repair to ensure optimal performance.
- Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble the engine and mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of various measuring equipment, hand tools and special tools in the workshop.
- Update and highlight all major and recurring failures to the Workshop Foreman / Service Supervisor.
On-call availability required.
Qualifications & Licences :
A trade qualification as a Certificate III Diesel Mechanic or above is essential.Forklift Licence and Safe Working at Heights (Desirable).Current driver's licence (Desirable or attainable in three months)Skills :
Have a firm adherence to WHSE and in keeping with a safe workplace.Self-motivated and able to work independently as required.Experience :
Two plus years of diesel-heavy vehicle mechanic experience is essential.Experience speaking with customers and resolving concerns or issues would be highly regarded.Salary $76,500 - $80,000 annual.
