Kenmore District Kindergarten has been caring and educating 3- to 5-year-old children for over 65 years. A unique opportunity has become available for a Director and Educational Leader to join our amazing team in a permanent part-time position. In this role you will lead our Kindergarten and work closely with a dedicated, voluntary, Management Committee.

About the role
The Director and Educational Leader is a permanent part-time position. This is a non-contact role allowing for focus on leading and managing a small, close knit and experienced team for 15 hours per week. Options to expand the role to also include teaching may be considered for those interested next year.
As Director (nominated supervisor / service manager) you will be responsible for promoting and ensuring :
The delivery of high-quality early childhood education and Kindergarten programs based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLFv2) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG)
Strong trusting relationships between children, families and staff
A strong and cohesive professional team
Meaningful parent participation in all aspects of service provision
Cost effective service provision and the best investment of available resources
Help market the centre to attract future enrolments.
You will be supported in this role by the existing staff and voluntary management committee elected annually from the parent body.
In addition, as Educational Leader you will lead the development and implementation of the educational and care program. Key duties include promoting and ensuring :
The understanding of high quality early childhood education and Kindergarten programs based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG)
The interest in reading widely and sharing information with other educators in a manner which reflects their level of understanding
The knowledge of curriculum approaches and the ability to support discussion of how these may be implemented in particular settings or with particular children
Access to current research about curriculum and a desire to guide others in reflecting on their practice
The knowledge of children’s individual learning styles so that approaches can be differentiated to meet complex needs of children from a range of backgrounds and abilities
Personal qualities and a willingness to listen as well as coach, mentor and reflect alongside the team.
A key aspect of the role of Educational Leader is to create an inspirational vision for children’s learning and curriculum collaboratively.
About you
We are looking for a strong leader, who is passionate about early years education, community kindergarten and creating an inclusive experience for all children and their families. The successful candidate will :
Be able to demonstrate their experience as a Director, and be well-versed in their understanding and application of the NQF, NQS, EYLF V2.0 and the QKLG in their planning for and documentation and assessment of children’s learning and development.
Demonstrate extensive experience in leading a team of teachers and educators and the ability and desire to work alongside them to support the needs of the children and families in the Kindergarten’s care
Be an incredible communicator with a natural ability and inclination to develop and foster genuine connections with children, parents and guardians, community networks, schools and allied health professionals
Be passionate about play-based learning and demonstrate their ability to provide high-quality, authentic and stimulating learning programs and environments that enhance children’s learning and development
Be committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practices
Be self-driven with demonstrated initiative, innovation and flexibility
Be an approachable and respectful leader who seeks feedback and invites contribution
Have an understanding of and the ability to follow budgets.
Key qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (must be recognised by ACECQA)
Queensland College of Teacher Registration or be eligible for Teacher Registration in Queensland
At least three years’ experience as a Director of a Kindergarten
Experience as Educational Leader of a Kindergarten
Recognised First Aid, CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification
Blue Card or Exemption Card
Child Protection Training or willingness to undertake training prior to commencement.
