About the RoleWe are currently seeking a Principal Mining Finance Consultant to join our Advisory Division. The role is primarily responsible for the provision of consulting services to our clients as part of a multidisciplinary technical team and requires extensive experience in finance or accounting roles within the mining industry. The individual must have a deep understanding of mining project evaluation and investment decision making to provide expert advice to our clients along with prior experience with mining related project construction and cost control.
This role would be suitable for someone wanting to broaden their skill set through exposure to a global range of projects from both a technical and financing perspective. The role will allow you to work closely with a global network of project financiers and give you exposure to mining financiers and their financial requirements.
- RPMGlobal Advisory has been acquired by SLR Consulting Australia. This role will be transitioned to SLR Consulting as a part of the divestment of RPMGlobal Advisory Services.
- Key Responsibilities
- Technical review of global consulting projects such as pre-feasibility studies, technical reports and due diligence for either client companies or their financiers.
- Provide the financial review and report writing for technical expert reports or similar reporting requirements as required.
- Provide expert advice with respect to financial and commercial aspects, financial modelling, governance and risk management, mining projects and studies, and business planning and analysis.
- Ensure client requirements are adequately defined and recorded.
- Verify the scope of work, deliver outcomes in accordance with the scope and on time.
- Develop qualified leads and follow up on potential opportunities.
- Proposal planning and preparation.
- Contribution to technical development within the company.
- Working efficiently and effectively as Project Manager, Project Director or as a technical expert, as required for various projects.
- Collaborating with clients from project kick-off to delivery, maintaining regular follow-up engagement.
- Preparing and reviewing project reports as well as presenting key outcomes to clients.
- Develop constructive relationships with technical and operational people at all levels through effective communication and interactions.Maintaining a wide professional network within the mining industry to consolidate and expand RPM's client relationships.
- About You
- Tertiary Qualifications and relevant experience gained in the finance, accounting or commercial areas of the mining industry.
- Membership of a Professional Accounting body, e.g. CA, CPA or CMA. or a Licensed member of an accredited organisation.
- Substantial experience in the relevant industry as a project manager or finance / commercial manager with significant periods in senior operational roles or study roles, project execution and construction, and / or technical consulting.
- Knowledge of the industry, and leading EPC / EPCM with respect to multiple mining projects globally. Specifically in the commercial and finance aspect of Projects and Operations.
- Experience in senior roles in Finance in the mining industry is required.
- Budgeting and Planning or Financial modelling skills.
- Experience in the mining industry composed of onsite and consulting roles, ideally at multiple mine sites in senior technical or operational accounting roles.
- High performance, technically strong, self-motivated individual.
- Have experience contributing to, and writing, a broad range of project or operational reporting documentation i.e. periodic operational reports, feasibility studies, Life of Mine reporting, Budget / Forecast papers and presentations, etc.
- Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.
- Knowledgeable of business principles and financial modelling.
- The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of customer stakeholders, from technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Strong command of the English language in both verbal and written form.
- Strong team player, able to build effective relationships at all levels across the company and with Clients.
- Willingness to learn.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
