Synergy's Defence, Strategy and Industry team members are critical thinkers who are recognised for solving complex problems in an evolving strategic environment. We work primarily within the Department of Defence and the National Security sector across the policy, strategic and operational levels.
- As a DS&I Senior Manager, your areas of work will be
- Shape strategic thinking and communicate with influence
- Work in a Defence or National Security environment as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary Synergy team
- Provide strategic business advice to national security clients based on personal experience
- Develop and write policy
- Lead / oversee multi-disciplinary teams and assist in decision-making and engagement at multiple levels of seniority
- Lead the delivery of program and portfolio management work outputs to provide business solution advice and options
- Understand and incorporate cultural change and change management in client delivery (provided by other team members)
- Manage internal and external, team and client communications
- Be responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies, processes and procedures
- Increase the organisation's ability to meet changing needs in complex environments
- Engage with clients at multiple levels of seniority
- Work with sensitive and classified material and adhere to the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF)
- Provide leadership support to client and company
- You should be able to demonstrate
- 10 years or more experience in Defence or National Security
- Achieves results, have a growth mindset with the ability to challenge established thinking
- Be able to focus strategically demonstrating judgement, intelligence and common sense
- Be resilient, engage with risk and be able to operate in areas of uncertainty
- Be resourceful in solving problems, have perseverance, be robust and respectful and be able to concentrate on very complex work for extended periods
- Be able to work with mínimal direction to a client with often loosely defined goals
- Be responsive to client requirements and enable them to succeed
- Be able to harness opportunities for client growth and show practical judgement
- Be able to operate autonomously or within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Nurtures strong internal and external relationships and deals with uncertainty
- Be team focused with both Synergy and the client
- Be able to communicate and write with clarity, brevity, and with situational awareness
- Be tactful, patient, flexible, and have strong negotiation skills
- Experience with project, program and portfolio management (P3M)
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
