Key Responsibilities Our APAC Hydrology and Hydrogeology Team Our 50+ person Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) team is a core part of SLR Asia Pacific. We focus on expanding our work with Tier 1 clients in Mining, Infrastructure, Renewables, and Industry. We seek a motivated groundwater professional to join and help grow our technical team, leveraging existing opportunities and developing new partnerships.
This role is for an Associate Hydrogeologist reporting to the QLD State Lead. The position can be based in Brisbane or Townsville, with existing teams of 16 and 5 staff respectively. It offers an opportunity to advance your career by applying practical hydrogeology knowledge and leading projects across various industries.
We have a strong backlog of work due to our commitment to technical excellence, practical solutions, and client relationships. SLR supports industry best practices and is an active sponsor of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. Our teams collaborate across multiple locations and with other environmental specialists.
The group delivers projects in sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry, and Power. Our 2025 focus includes resource projects, infrastructure and energy (renewables), and international collaborations.
To be successful, you will need : 6-12 years of industry experience as a hydrogeologist, including consultancy experience Appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification Strong technical background in hydrogeological conceptualization, impact assessment, investigation, and modelling (analytical / numerical) Practical knowledge of data collection and fieldwork management Commitment to Health and Safety Experience managing large technical projects within scope, time, and budget constraints Strong communication skills for overseeing staff and coordinating teams Ability to provide technical advice to clients and team members Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and team effectiveness Understanding of QLD groundwater legislation and policies, with knowledge of other national and state regulations Entrepreneurial attitude for business development and client relationship building Ability to develop and maintain client relationships to grow SLR's presence Excellent report writing and communication skills Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia Valid driver's license and good driving record Our Benefits We foster a collaborative culture, supporting flexible working arrangements to suit individual needs.
