What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the Band 4 Project Officer roles in AFP’s Cyber Command.
Cybercrime has been identified as one of the AFP and Australian Government’s priority areas for action as volume, sophistication and impact of cybercrime is on the increase and poses a serious threat to Australians, Australian communities and governments.
AFP Cyber Command has a primary responsibility for the investigation of cybercrimes against the Commonwealth Government, critical infrastructure and systems of national significance, or those that impact on the whole of Australian economy. We focus on several cybercrime types, including ransomware, remote access trojans, and data breaches of high-volume or national significance.
The mission of Cyber Command is to make Australia a hostile environment for cybercrime through five key areas of focus :
As a Team Member in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position.
What will you do?
The Cyber Program Management Office (Cyber PMO) is responsible for the design, monitoring, management and delivery of programs, projects and initiatives that uplift the capacity of the AFP, and Australian law enforcement more broadly, to combat the ever-evolving threat of cybercrime.
The programs we manage include programs under the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy and Australia's Cyber Security Strategy 2020. Cyber PMO also manages various projects that enable AFP to combat cybercrime and stay ahead of serious criminal threats and protect Australia and Australians.
