About the opportunity

We are looking for positive, enthusiastic, team-oriented Emergency Medicine Registrars to join our department. The role has the responsibility for assessing and managing patients presenting to the emergency department including assisting more junior medical staff in managing their patients. We are recruiting Australian Residents / International Medical Graduates holding a current valid working visa and AHPRA Registration for our February 2025 intake.

Our ED sees a varied case mix of approximately 55, 000 patients per year with a 5% growth rate, including 20-25%% paediatrics.

Planning and early works are well underway for the building of a new emergency department, set to open in 2026. The expanded emergency department will be able to treat an extra 25,000 patients each year with an effective doubling of our treatment spaces. With the ability to better care for the rapidly growing population in our catchment area will come many exciting career opportunities for those who join our team.

Our ED is ACEM accredited for 24 months advanced training in emergency medicine and we are known for our great team culture. As a registrar, you will be well supported by Emergency Physicians, with an active fellowship teaching and exam preparation programme and there is plenty of scope for teaching junior doctors and medical students. Registrars are specifically rostered to the weekly teaching session to avoid clinical demands interfering with attendance. We have further education support and the opportunity to complete the Emergency Medicine Certificate and Emergency Medicine Diploma at our hospital.

Opportunities exist for 3-month ACEM accredited Anaesthetic rotations, and also 6 month ACEM accredited ICU rotations. Our mixed ED is also accredited for the paediatric log book and we have 2 Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physicians on staff.

Whilst this is a training position and suitable ACEM trainees will be prioritised, we strongly encourage non trainees to apply.

Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) High standards of practice with a strong commitment to consumer and carer focused service Ability to work flexibly within the Public Emergency Health Services system Prior experience working in the Public Emergency Health Services system will be of benefit What you'll bring
