The Assistant Director, Senators' Services leads the Senate Attendant, Senate Print Room and Delivery Services teams. The occupant of this position must have sound experience in coaching and leading teams, setting priorities, and managing workflows.
The Assistant Director, Senators' Services is responsible for the development, implementation and review of policy and procedures related to departmental security policies business continuity and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). In collaboration with the Deputy Usher of the Black Rod, the occupant is also responsible for drafting the annual PSPF maturity assessment. The occupant of this position must have an understanding of the Commonwealth Security environment and policies and the ability to write well.
The Assistant Director, Senators' Services is also responsible for drafting and updating standard operating procedures relevant to the section's work. In addition, the position contributes to the broader Australian Parliament House security environment through contribution to the review and drafting of APH security policy and procedures relevant to the Senate. The occupant of this position should have knowledge of the Commonwealth's financial management framework including procurement.
The Assistant Director, Senators' Services also performs certain ceremonial and security related duties in the Senate chamber as an assistant Usher of the Black Rod. They must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and exercise judgement in carrying out their duties.
