About the opportunity : We are seeking a dedicated researcher to join our team to explore energy justice within electricity transmission regulation and policy. The role is funded through a three-year Australian Research Council Discovery Project ("Just transmission : advancing coherence in Australia's electricity policy"- project ID DP250103027).

This role offers a valuable opportunity to collaborate within an interdisciplinary research team, engage with stakeholders, and contribute to policy discussions through publications and presentations.

Key Responsibilities : Conduct comparative analysis of state and federal legislation and policies on electricity transmission through the lens of energy justice.Undertake fieldwork and interviews in two regional areas (NSW and VIC)Write academic publications, policy briefs, and public-facing contentPresent research findings to scholarly and public audiencesCoordinate research team activities, including workshops and advisory board meetingsCo-supervise a PhD studentRequirements : PhD in a relevant discipline (Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Sociology, Geography, Environmental / Energy Studies or a related field) with proven research expertise in energy, climate, environmental, or infrastructure policy and an emerging track record of academic publicationsStrong interdisciplinary teamwork skills—fostering collaboration, meeting deadlines, and maintaining productive relationshipsExperience working with diverse stakeholders, including regional communities and external partnersExceptional communication skills in English (oral and written), adaptable across academic and non-academic contextsAbility to co-supervise PhD / Masters research students in politics, public policy, or lawCommitment to equal opportunity principles within a university settingAbility to hold interviews in regional areas 2-3 times a year, and hold a full or provisional driver's licence.The University offers excellent conditions and benefits such as :
