About the opportunity..
Are you a visionary designer who thrives at the intersection of creativity and strategy? As the Lead Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in crafting user-centered experiences that drive customer satisfaction and business success.
In this role, you'll leverage both qualitative and quantitative insights to inform product decisions and elevate outcomes. From leading user research, interviews, and surveys to fostering a collaborative design culture, you'll be at the heart of a dynamic, innovative process.
The core responsibilities of the Lead Designer includes but is not limited to :
1. Leadership and People Management
- Coach and mentor a team of Product Designers, fostering their professional growth and enabling them to deliver impactful results.
- Conduct regular 1 : 1s, performance reviews, and provide actionable feedback to team members.
- Advocate for the design team within the organisation, ensuring their contributions are recognised and aligned with strategic goals.
2. Strategic Collaboration and Work Prioritisation
- Collaborate with the R&D extended leadership team to prioritise work, set focus, and align the Product Design team with company objectives.
- Define a strong and coherent vision for the user experience of ELMO products, ensuring design plays a critical role in achieving business outcomes.
- Actively contribute to a collaborative Scrum environment, supporting lean development practices and MVP thinking.
- Guide product decisions through user research, customer engagement and iterative feedback loops.
3. User-Centred Design and Research
- Maintain a user-centred approach to design and development, identifying and codifying customer needs.
- Conduct and help facilitate user research, including interviews, polls, surveys, prototyping, and usability testing, to guide product decisions.
- Encourage development team participation in customer research activities, fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Mentor design team members and other product team members in lean user research methodologies, with an approach of just enough research.
- Use quantitative data to complement qualitative insights, providing timely feedback loops to enhance user outcomes.
- Facilitate planning and ideation sessions actively promoting strong team collaboration on solutions.
- Encourage participation from development team members in Customer research activities.
