The Landscape Gardener is responsible for creating and maintaining new landscapes and wetlands. The role focuses on implementing detailed designs through swale creation, garden beds, planting, and construction of garden features, combining landscape gardening skills with ecological and horticultural knowledge to support vibrant, regenerative outdoor spaces.
- Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement landscape and planting plans to construct garden spaces, wetlands, and swales.
- Oversee contractor-led works for the specified areas.
- Prepare sites through soil improvement, composting, surface grading, mulching, levelling, and drainage installation.
- Construct and shape new swales, garden beds, and drainage contours to support healthy water flow, erosion control, and soil health.
- Build and install hardscape elements such as gravel paths, retaining walls, timber structures, seating areas, garden edges, and irrigation systems.
- Plant and establish a wide variety of native, ornamental, aquatic, and edible plant species using correct placement and soil conditioning techniques.
- Maintain all garden and wetland areas through watering, fertilising, mulching, pruning, replanting, and sustainable weed and pest management.
- Monitor the condition of all planting zones and landscape features, making adjustments and improvements to ensure long-term health and functionality.
- Contribute to the refinement of planting layouts and construction approaches as site conditions or environmental factors evolve.
- Plan and establish irrigation systems as part of the landscape development in these areas.
- Maintain and repair installed irrigation systems.
- Operate landscape gardening tools and machinery safely and efficiently in compliance with OH&S guidelines.
- Ensuring a safe working environment for all work areas undertaken
- Report to Foreman all work issues before, during and upon completion of a project
Pay : $90,000.00 per year
