The Role :
Work within RAC’s Social & Community Impact team to provide credible and technically sound analysis using data derived from the award-winning RAC Air Health Monitor. The monitor includes data from a network of more than 200 air quality sensors which tracks air pollution across Perth and Peel and plays an important role of supporting RAC’s 2030 Vision, which includes reducing harmful vehicle emissions.
This role will be offered initially as a full time, 12-month fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensuring the accurate collection, storage and retrieval of air quality data, and establishing data validation procedures across several platforms including dashboards.
- Leading the analysis and synthesis of air quality data to identify trends, patterns and areas of concern.
- Providing accurate, detailed and evidence-based outputs including an annual report.
- Keeping a currency of knowledge about changes in environmental standards and guidelines ensuring the air quality monitoring network complies.
- In concert with the Technical Lead, leading and coordinating the investigation of air quality events and threshold exceedances.
- Supporting operations personnel in their work to ensure sensor health and network continuity.
- Providing expert technical advice and professional judgement to support content production and media.
- Strengthening RAC’s credibility in this field while informing RAC members, the community, industry, regulators and other stakeholders.
- Researching and preparing reports, papers and communication materials such as presentations and briefing notes.
- Liaising and developing relationships with stakeholders in government and industry and representing RAC in external forums.
- Managing consultants and contractors, as required.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and developments.
- Responding to queries from members and external organisations.
