Department of Energy, Environment and Climate ActionGippsland - Various, VIC, AUReporting to the Regional Manager, Plants, Chemicals and Invasives South East Region, the Biosecurity Manager South East is responsible for managing a team of qualified staff who support the productivity of the Victorian agriculture sector and protect the region and state from the impact of invasive plants and animals on agricultural productivity, environmental and social assets.The South East Plants, Chemicals and Invasives team is part of a wider biosecurity team which delivers regulation and compliance programs and responses to biosecurity and other emergencies.You will have strong stakeholder management, technical knowledge and engagement skills. You will be required to assist regional staff to improve relationships and partnerships with clients and key stakeholders to improve program outcomes. The role provides advice to the Regional Manager and other senior managers on the South East region's risks to biosecurity, agricultural productivity and community management issues. You will establish strong working relationships with internal staff and various external stakeholders including private landowners, community and industry groups as well as local and state government agencies.This position has responsibilities under the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994, Plant Biosecurity Act 2010 and the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1992.This position is a designated DEECA Authorised Officer position.Specialist / Technical Expertise / Qualifications
- Tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Science or an equivalent science qualification. Candidates must have these qualifications to be considered eligible and verification is required prior to appointment.
- Current Drivers Licence for a motor vehicle
- Hold a current Applied First Aid Certificate (Level 2 to be completed during probation period)
- Vaccination against Q fever is recommended.This is a fixed term position available for a period until 3 November 2025. - Your demonstrated experience in managing teams related to regulation and biosecurity risk management of agriculture industries.
