The Office of the Chief Remote Pilot (OCRP) The OCRP ensures safe, compliant drone operations and supports drone technology use across the Department. We develop policies, manage operational frameworks, and ensure compliance with CASA regulations. Our functions include :

Building capability in drone and next-generation technologies for science, compliance, and safety. Driving innovation in environmental data collection, monitoring, and analytics. Strengthening partnerships with agencies, First Nations Peoples, industry, and academia. We facilitate science and innovation by developing environmental monitoring solutions and integrating advanced technologies like AI, IoT, and cloud services, especially in collaboration with First Nations ranger groups.

The key duties of the position include Developing full-stack applications using the latest technologies and programming languages. Facilitating user research and usability testing to improve interfaces. Creating user journey maps, dashboards, and prototypes aligned with UI principles. Designing human-centered options to enhance digital environmental data delivery. Reviewing code, documentation, and troubleshooting incidents. Implementing digital solutions to meet operational needs. Participating in system analysis and design discussions. Providing technical advice and assistance to stakeholders. Preparing manuals and technical guidelines. Supporting pipeline automation, cloud-native development, and dev-ops activities. Upskilling team members through peer coding, reviews, and mentoring.
