The Role

Are you a curious problem-solver who loves turning complex data into compelling stories?

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Reporting & Analysis team. This isn't a role for someone who just wants to run queries, it's for a consultant minded technician who thrives on translating business needs into high impact technical solutions. You will partner with our stakeholders to drive data-led decision making in a fast paced, retail environment.

This position is designed for an experienced professional who can navigate the intricacies of both traditional relational databases and modern cloud platforms with a keen eye for detail. Your core focus will be building complex datasets, developing self-serve BI dashboards, and tackling critical regulatory reporting, ensuring our data is robust and ready for the future of the energy sector.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Manager of Reporting & Analysis, you will:

• Consult & Create: Partner directly with internal teams to understand the “why” and build the “how,” delivering dashboards that provide genuine commercial clarity.
• Own the Lifecycle: Drive the end-to-end implementation of data initiatives, from exploratory analysis to operationalising reporting frameworks.
• Guard the Truth: Proactively manage information requirements to ensure a "single source of truth" while identifying and mitigating data integrity risks.
• Enable Self-Serve Capabilities: Develop high-impact visualizations that empower stakeholders to improve decision-making and the customer experience.
• Navigate Compliance: Work alongside internal and external regulatory bodies to ensure our reporting is accurate, compliant, and timely.
• Optimise & Evolve: Utilize your SQL expertise across our hybrid data landscape (SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud platforms) to refine our reporting logic and ensure our datasets are performant and scalable.

Who You Are

You are a Data Analyst with a conceptual thinking mindset. You don’t just provide numbers; you provide context.

• Technical Toolkit: You are a SQL expert. Whether it’s traditional relational databases or modern cloud environments, you know how to extract and manipulate data efficiently. Python experience is welcomed but not essential.
• The Visualiser: You are proficient in leading BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker) and understand how to weave a narrative through data.
• Sector Savvy: An understanding of the energy/utilities sector is a major plus, but the ability to grasp commercial drivers quickly is essential.
• The Communicator: You are a natural relationship-builder and a persuasive influencer who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
• Future-Focused: You likely hold a degree in Computer Science, Math, or Data Science. While this role is focused on core analytics, you have an interest in how high quality data provides the foundation for advanced analytics and AI.
