There’s opportunity around every corner and the support to help you achieve your goals.About the role : Reporting to the Software Team Leader, the Software Engineer (DevOps Specialist) will focus on the ongoing development and maintenance of software that supports Chrysos’ PhotonAssay minerals analysis systems. In addition to core software development, this role emphasizes the establishment and management of robust DevOps practices, including cloud-based infrastructure (AWS), CI / CD pipelines, and automation of operational workflows.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both software engineering and DevOps, particularly within AWS environments, and will be passionate about delivering scalable, secure, and efficient systems.What you will do : DevOps and Cloud InfrastructureDesign, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.Build and manage CI / CD pipelines to enable seamless software development and deployment.Implement monitoring and logging solutions to ensure system health and performance.Software DevelopmentDevelop clean, testable software for PhotonAssay systems, emphasizing the integration of DevOps tools and practices.Collaborate on new product designs, offering insights on infrastructure and deployment strategies.Automation and OptimisationAutomate repetitive operational tasks, improving system efficiency and reliability.Contribute to performance tuning and optimisation of deployed systems.Documentation and Best PracticesMaintain high standards in documentation, code reviews, and testing practices.Advocate and implement industry-standard DevOps methodologies across the team.Cross-functional CollaborationWork closely with software engineers, product managers, and scientists to align infrastructure needs with product goals.Support system deployment and troubleshooting in production environments.Contribute to a culture that values collaboration, technical excellence and on-going staff learning and development.Support the development of a strong OH&S culture.Who you are : EssentialA tertiary qualification in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience.At least 3 years of experience in a role combining software engineering and DevOps.Proficiency in managing AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation / CDK.Demonstrated expertise in CI / CD tools such as Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.Strong Linux system administration skills.Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Knowledge of scripting and automation using Ansible, Python, Bash or similar languages.Familiarity with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.DesirableExperience with PostgreSQL and other relational databases.Proficiency with Python frameworks such as Django.Exposure to frontend frameworks (e.g., Vue.js).Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.Who we are (Our values) : Safety is a Non-Negotiable - Safety isn’t just a value—it’s our way of life.
