APPLICATIONS CLOSE 3 JULY 2025 Applications are invited from suitably qualified Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Westmead Hospital within the Department of Haematology Blood Transplant & Cellular Therapies Unit.

This appointment is for the remainder of the current Quinquennium (30 June 2027).

The Visiting Medical Officer is an essential member of the Clinical Haematology multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership and promoting patient safety and quality. The position provides contemporary comprehensive specialist services; assessment and treatment of blood & stem cell transplant (BT) patients with post-transplant related gynaecological complications including genital graft versus host disease, premature menopause, hormone replacement therapy, and fertility issues within the BTCT Unit and Clinical Haematology. The Visiting Medical Officer is responsible for delivering specialist services in a way that will best meet the clinical needs and requirements of the department :

• Achieve quality patient outcomes.
• Utilise information systems to enable informed decision making and care planning.
• Communicating with staff and clinicians to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Actively participating in risk management, safety and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices.

The position assists in planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and review of clinical service provision, strategies and policies to enable the delivery of high quality, accessible patient care services to the community, patients and families of the Western Sydney Local Health District. This position reports directly to the Head of Department & Program Director for Blood Transplant and Cell Therapies (BTCT), clinical governance reporting to the Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and also has professional accountability to the facility General Manager. The position provides clinical leadership in best practice care to patients, leadership of a workforce culture that promotes quality, safety and excellent supervision of junior staff, ensuring a mutually respectful environment within the department and in collaboration with facility staff.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Selection Criteria § Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANCOG) per the Staff Specialists (State) Award Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable)

Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring / audit practices that support credentialing to the position and are commensurate with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

Sound clinical knowledge in assessment and treatment of blood & stem cell transplant patients with post-transplant related gynaecological complications including genital graft versus host disease, premature menopause, hormone replacement therapy, and fertility issues demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.

Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including :

o High level interpersonal and communication skills.

o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.

o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.

o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.

Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
