Ongoing, Part Time Role - 48 Hours per Fortnight

  • A strong background in acute care nursing
  • Clinical skills, including :
  • Comprehensive patient assessment
  • Management of the deteriorating patient
  • CVAD (Central Venous Access Device) care
  • Cannulation
  • Wound care
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning
  • Remuneration as per Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024-2028. RN Grade 2 Year 1 (YP2) : $81,733.60 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time) - RN Grade 2 Year 8 (YP9) : $103,152.40 (full-time equivalent - to be prorated for Part Time) dependent on candidate experience.     Position Summary

    As a Registered Nurse at Peter Mac you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our patients.

    The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organizational, legal and ethical standards are met. The Registered Nurse communicates within the multidisciplinary teams, and is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health care professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSON).

  • 12 months recent acute medical or surgical experience

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team from admission to discharge
  • Engages in therapeutic and professional relationships

  • RN practice is based on purposefully engaging in effective therapeutic and professional relationships. This includes collegial generosity in the context of mutual trust and respect in professional relationships
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs with appropriate staff member / s ensuring communication and patient care is coordinated with the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintains capability for practice

  • RNs as regulated health professionals are responsible and accountable for ensuring they are safe, and have the capability for practice. This includes ongoing self-management and responding when there is a concern about other health professional’s capability for practice
  • RNs are responsible for their professional development including completion of mandatory annual and nursing competencies within agreed timeframes
  • RNs are responsible for contributing to the development of others
  • RNs are also responsible for providing information and education to enable people to make decisions and take action in relation to their health
  • Comprehensively conducts assessments

  • RNs accurately conduct comprehensive and systematic assessments that are holistic as well as culturally appropriate
  • Analyse information and data and communicate outcomes as the basis for practice
  • Develops a plan for nursing practice

  • RNs are responsible for the planning and communication of nursing practice. Agreed plans are developed in partnership. Plans are based on the RN’s appraisal of comprehensive, relevant information and evidence that is documented and communicated
  • Provides safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice
  • RNs provide and may delegate, quality and ethical goal-directed actions. These are based on comprehensive and systematic assessment and the best available evidence to achieve planned and agreed outcomes
