Mental health Support Worker

Help at Hand Support Services is looking for experienced Disability Support Workers who would like to join us and help make a difference in the lives of people with a disability.

In this role you will provide a person‑centred approach, with a daily routine tailored to each client. Tasks might include taking a client to a beach outing, a movie or a game, assisting with a medical appointment, or simply staying with them at home with a cup of tea. This varied work is exciting and rewarding.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily activities and outings
• Provide support for medical and other appointments
• Offer companionship and encouragement in the home setting
• Remain calm and composed during crisis situations
• Maintain accurate records of each shift

Requirements

• Own a fully insured and reliable vehicle
• Current police check (within 6 months)
• Cert III in Disability or equivalent experience
• Working with Children Check
• First Aid/CPR certificates (current)
• Full and clean Australian driver’s licence
• Punctual, reliable and flexible
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest in the field
• Ability to self‑supervise and remain calm during crisis situations
