About the Role

A Principal Software Engineer position is available with a product-based business in the asset management sector. This is a newly created role designed to add technical seniority and coverage across a busy, growing engineering team. You will work closely with the Head of Software to ensure projects are well architected, maintain technical direction, and keep delivery moving at pace. As the team expands, this role is critical in supporting and guiding junior developers, helping to divide and conquer the work while keeping standards high. This is a hands-on position, with around 70% of your time spent designing, coding, reviewing, and providing technical support, while the remainder involves mentoring and technical leadership. You will be working on the organisation’s flagship SaaS platform, contributing to architecture, delivery, and scaling their AWS-based systems that process large amounts of data. The role is fully office-based from their modern Perth CBD headquarters.

Base pay range

A$140,000.00 / yr - A$170,000.00 / yr

You Should Have

• 5 to 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer, including at least 5 years in complex, architecture-related or large-scale system work
• Strong coding background with Python, with experience in another modern language such as Java or C# also valuable
• Proven hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, including designing and supporting scalable systems that handle high data volumes
• Solid understanding of Elasticsearch and related data tools
• Ability to provide technical mentorship and code reviews for junior developers
• Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to work collaboratively with engineering leadership
